Not for Profit Good Cause
As our work is free (essential for realising the maximum potential for good) we fall under the category of a 'not for profit good cause'.
Initially while we are still a very small project this is fine, as this allows us to explore other ways to cover the costs incurred through purchase of books, packaging, postage, website, broadband, distribution, telephone, wages for office staff, utilities and other inevitable administrative expenses.
Possible funding avenues already considered are car boot sales, tombolas, raffles, go fund pages, sponsorship, donations, fundraising days, bag packing etc. Also as a 'not for profit good cause' we qualify for a licensed permit from any local council to stand on a public street and a small stand or simply a volunteer without a stand, can be on any private premises without a council permit, such as shops, supermarkets, shopping centres, diy stores, garden centres, sports stadiums etc providing we have their permission.
Also most of the large supermarket chains allow national registered charities, as well as smaller local 'not for profit good causes' to occasionally hold in store awareness days.
Many 'not for profit good causes' such as kids football teams successfully and regularly utilise these type of awareness and fundraising activities.
Some of these methods could also have the added bonus of providing us with a public presence, ideal for making the work available to the people who may need it most. Passers-by could pick up a leaflet with full details of how to download a PDF version and or obtain a paperback version.
